Tuesday, October 03, 2006 ::: A PIECE OF REALITY SHOVED RIGHT AT YOUR FACE Ouch. Bad memories. I don't like that place. I don't like it when every sentence you speak can mean something more than what you say. Like when you say that line then that stupid fuck has to mutter something really stupid and then I'll have to feel being violated. I hate that. Nobody's doing anything obviously hideous but it definitely feels that way to me. And it's not something I want to put up with. Together with the bad dreams. That's a piece of reality shoved right at your face. *** Finally, one of the most anticipated album of the year has hit stores. 1. This album was recorded in Las Vegas at the recording studio at The Palms Hotel and Casino. 2. It's supposed to sound a lot like Springsteen. 3. Springsteen does not belong to my generation (obviously) but I don't really care because I think their sophomore album although does carry a different sound it still sounds a lot like The Killers and it's absolutely brilliant. At some point during 2nd listen I have to say the album is 'fucking amazing', but then at later parts of it when some fillers surface inevitably maybe I won't say it's 'fucking amazing' anymore but 'absolutely brilliant' still holds true. 4. I can't say this enough but 'When You Were Young' has to be one of the greatest songs ever written. I think it's their best song yet. 5. You can't find another 'Somebody Told Me' in this album, but I'll forgive them because this album boasts some really good songs like 'Sam's Town', 'Bling', 'Read My Mind', 'Bones', 'This River Is Wild', plus 'When You Were Young'. 6. I don't really have to skip any tracks while listening to this album. Based on this alone I think I like this album more than Hot Fuss. Hot Fuss has some better singles but I guess as an album 'Sam's Town' works better. 7. Sam's Town is named after a casino in Las Vegas, apparently the one opposite to lead singer Flower's house? And this album does sound like a Las Vegas offering. Very glamorous. And you can imagine them playing these tunes in old Las Vegas town. 8. I quite like the Enterlude and Exitlude idea although it means that this album only has 10 real songs, strictly speaking. Well done!
